Syngonias are found in almost every home. I also have several of these plants in my plant collection, because they are very easy to care for and can surprise with the variety of beautiful colored foliage. Then let's talk about Syngonias in more detail.
Soil 🪴
Syngonia is a plant of the aroid family, just like Alocasia, which I wrote about earlier. Therefore, syngonias will also like airy, light and well-draining soil. I also use the premium houseplant soil I created for syngonias.
‼️Singonias are very good at growing hydroculture, which means that they can be grown in water in glass vases or other interesting containers.
‼️I have also seen that others use syngonias as aquarium plants and grow them completely submerged in water.
Sun/Light ☀️💡
Syngonias are very tolerant and will grow in low light environments, however they will grow much faster and have a more pronounced leaf color if the plant is provided with medium to bright indirect light. The direct rays of the sun can burn the leaves of Singonias, but remember that the sun is not so strong in Latvia and the plants should be protected in summer and spring only from the midday sun.
‼️In winter, plants can be placed on the windowsill so that they have more light, but you have to pay attention that the windowsill and the window are not cold, because in that case you can only do worse and the plant can freeze.
Air humidity 💦💧
Syngonias will feel good in almost every house, because usually the average indoor air humidity is 40-50%, which is completely sufficient for these plants.
Irrigation 🌧
Syngonias will like it if the soil is allowed to dry out between waterings. However, it should be remembered that if the ground is dry for too long, older leaves may wither and remain brown. In such cases, it usually helps if the plant is well watered. However, overwatering is also not good, as in this case the leaves may start to turn yellow or brown and root rot may develop. Therefore, it is best to water when we feel that the earth is dry and pour only warm water on the plants.
‼️It is important to remember that overwatering does not mean that the plant is poured too much water in one watering, but that watering is done too often and the ground does not dry out between waterings.
Fertilizing 🪴
Syngonias are recommended to be fertilized once a month in spring and summer, we do not fertilize the plants in winter and autumn. Of course, the exception is if we grow syngonia in a greenhouse, where the same conditions are provided all year round, then we can fertilize.
Air temperature 🌡
Syngonias will be happy if the air temperature is ensured throughout the year in the range of 15-29 degrees. They can also live at a temperature of 10 degrees, but if the air temperature is below 10 degrees for a long time, the plant will die.
‼️It must be remembered that if we ventilate the premises, especially in the winter months, the plants must be kept away from drafts, as it can freeze the plants.
Creeping plant 🌿
Syngonia is a climbing plant that will appreciate a support post to cling to and grow with its aerial roots. You can use a moss pole, a coconut pole or let the plant climb a wall or a tree as a support pole. However, if you do not want to form the plant vertically, you can also form the growth in a horizontal position, thus allowing the aerial roots to grow in the ground.
‼️It's good to remember that Syngonias can also be trimmed to give them a fuller shape. I personally like it when there are several plants in one flower pot, because then the plant looks richer.
Indignant ☠️
For syngonia, all parts of the plant are poisonous and this plant is poisonous to both animals and humans.
Air purifier 💨
As it turns out, Syngonias are excellent air purifiers. NASA scientists have discovered that Syngonias are able to purify the air even from such substances as benzene, xylene, toluene and formaldehyde.

According to Feng Shui, Syngonias reduce stress and anxiety and promote positivity.
