Royal Alocasia 'Azlanii' (Alocasia 'Azlanii')
Get ready to discover one of the most expensive, mysterious, and highly prized treasures among houseplant collectors – the legendary Alocasia 'Azlanii' (also known as Red Mambo)! This breathtaking and rare natural masterpiece comes from only one place in the world – the mysterious tropical rainforests of Borneo – and belongs to the prestigious elite of "jewel alocasias" (Jewel Alocasia). It completely captivates with its almost surreal color palette: its firm, thick, arrow-shaped leaves have a smooth, distinctly glossy, and metallic texture in dark chocolate or nearly black tones. But the true natural wonder reveals itself in the light – the leaf's textured network of veins magically glows and sparkles in neon pink, purple, and bright red shades, creating the impression that hot lava is flowing at the leaf base. Meanwhile, the underside of the leaves boasts a rich, royal purple color. Currently, it is a small, compact, and exceptionally valuable 10-15 cm young plant in a small 8 cm pot. It is an air-purifying and distinctly architectural houseplant that will add an elite, modern, and sophisticated luxury accent to any interior. It is a prestigious, unforgettable gift for passionate rarity hunters and design connoisseurs who want to see the most exclusive natural jewel in their homes!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright but MUST be diffused light. Here lies the main secret of this plant’s magical glow: for 'Azlanii' to maintain its expressive, metallic pink and purple veining, it requires a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy gentle morning or late evening sun rays). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will instantly and irreversibly burn its precious, glossy leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is a perfect choice.
-
💧 Watering: Moderate and very thoughtful. As a top-class jewel alocasia, this plant absolutely does not tolerate overwatering. Allow the top layer and the middle layer of the soil to dry out thoroughly between watering sessions! Since the young plant is in a small 8 cm pot, moisture will evaporate relatively quickly, but the plant strictly cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause sensitive root and tuber rot. Reduce watering significantly in winter.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving tropical queen (ideally +20°C to +26°C), which strongly demands high air humidity (above 60%). This elite-class seedling will be happiest if you provide a stable and warm microclimate – near a humidifier, inside a closed plant cabinet, or a special glass display case/florarium. Strictly protect it from cold drafts and icy windowsills in winter!
-
🐾 Pets: Keep away from pets. Like all alocasias, 'Azlanii' contains calcium oxalate crystals, which are toxic to cats and dogs if chewed. Place this precious and delicate plant out of their reach.
🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:
-
Bright and warm windowsills, shelves, or closed glass terrariums/display cases (ideal environment and safe, stable atmosphere due to its compact young plant size).
-
Modern, minimalist living rooms, home offices, or plant cabinets, where this neon-glowing plant will serve as the main and most talked-about interior design object.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height: 10-15 cm (compact baby seedling / exceptionally valuable young plant)
-

⚠️ Note and reality check about alocasias: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the exact intensity of its purple tones may vary slightly (new leaves initially open in softer, bronze tones, and their dramatic, dark metallic shine intensifies as the leaf matures). It is critically important to remember that you are receiving a young plant (in an 8 cm pot)! Such small, exclusive seedlings must be handled much more gently, carefully, and patiently than mature plants. An important natural secret: alocasias grow cyclically and to develop a new, stronger leaf, they often sacrifice and drop their oldest, smallest leaf – this is nothing to worry about; it is a completely normal process. Do not repot this small seedling immediately into a too-large pot. When you do repot it in the future, ALWAYS use an extremely airy, porous, and loose aroid soil mix (generously mixed with perlite, coconut chips, and fine orchid bark) so the roots can breathe freely and excess water drains instantly through the pot.
