For this alocasia to maintain its slender form and for the stem pattern to remain vivid and bright, it needs a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy morning or late evening sun). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will instantly burn its delicate, narrow leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is a perfect choice.

• 💧 Watering: Regular but very thoughtful. Alocasias love consistent moisture but absolutely do not tolerate overwatering. Allow the top layer of soil (the top third of the pot) to dry out completely between waterings! The plant strictly cannot tolerate roots sitting in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause sensitive root and tuber rot. Reduce watering significantly in winter.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving tropical resident (ideally +18°C to +25°C), which will be extremely happy with increased air humidity (above 55-60%). In dry indoor air, the tips of its narrow leaves may start to dry out and brown, so it will appreciate a spot near a humidifier, inside a closed plant cabinet, or on a pebble tray with water. In winter, strictly protect it from cold drafts and icy windowsills!

It is important to know nature’s secrets: alocasias grow cyclically and, to grow a new, stronger, and larger leaf, they very often sacrifice and shed their oldest, smallest leaf (which naturally turns yellow and withers) – there is no need to worry about this; it is a completely normal process. Do not repot this small seedling immediately into a large pot. When you repot it in the future, be sure to use an extremely airy, loose aroid soil mix (for example, one generously mixed with perlite, orchid bark, and coconut chips) so the roots can breathe freely and excess water drains instantly through the pot.
