Calathea Roses Crimson

Calathea 'Crimson' (Calathea roseopicta 'Crimson')

This exceptionally magnificent and breathtaking Calathea 'Crimson' is a true diva of the houseplant world and an absolute design masterpiece! It stands out with its dramatic and highly unusual colouring – the centre of its leaves is an intense pink or purplish-crimson shade, surrounded by a striking, deep dark green, almost black border. Like other plants in the Marantaceae family, this calathea also possesses the magical ability to move – in the evening, as darkness approaches, it raises its colourful leaves upright (just like hands in prayer), then spreads them out towards the light again in the morning! This air-purifying and visually stunning houseplant will add a bold, exceptionally vibrant, luxury-level natural accent to any interior. It is an exclusive and completely safe, yet attention-demanding gift for experienced plant lovers and colour enthusiasts!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but indirect light. For the calathea to maintain its intense pink colour, it needs plenty of light. However, protect it strictly from direct, scorching sunlight, which will quickly burn its thin leaves and make the colouring fade. An east- or north-facing windowsill is an excellent choice.

• 💧 Watering: Regular and very attentive. Calatheas prefer consistently slightly moist soil – they absolutely cannot tolerate being allowed to dry out completely, as their leaves will then curl up and the tips will become crispy. The most important rule: this plant is extremely sensitive to chlorine, fluoride and hard tap water! For watering, use ONLY soft, settled, filtered or, preferably, rainwater at room temperature.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: It thrives at standard room temperature, but the greatest secret to this plant’s survival and flawless appearance is very high humidity! In dry indoor air, the tips and edges of its leaves will quickly turn brown and dry. A humidifier placed nearby is almost essential. Protect it strictly from cold drafts, sudden temperature changes and dry air from radiators!

• 🐾 Pets: Pet-friendly. This magnificent, mobile plant is non-toxic and completely safe to keep in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 IDEAL ROOM:

• A bright bathroom with a window (an absolutely ideal location, as the plant will literally adore the natural humidity there).

• A bright spot near a humidifier in the living room or bedroom (where you can observe its magical leaf-closing in the evenings).

SPECIFICATIONS:

• Height: 25 cm

• Pot diameter: 12 cm

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the intensity of its pink colour may vary slightly. It is important to know nature’s secrets: even the most experienced growers may find that the very tips of their calathea leaves dry out – this is normal and indicates insufficient humidity or the use of tap water! You can carefully trim the brown tips with scissors, following the leaf’s natural shape, but do not cut into living tissue. Also, do not be alarmed if the plant raises its leaves upright in the evening – this is a completely natural “prayer” process (nyctinasty). When repotting, be sure to use an airy, humus-rich, moisture-retentive houseplant soil (peat-based with added perlite), and do not forget excellent drainage at the bottom of the pot.
