This extremely unusual, rare, and botanically fascinating Plakanlapu dihīdija is a true tropical rainforest gem and a top-tier design piece! It is closely related to popular hoyas (wax plants) and climbs tree trunks in the jungles of Southeast Asia. This species stands out with a completely unique appearance – its leaves are round, distinctly flat, firm, and thick-filled. As it grows, the leaves tend to overlap closely and flatly, resembling green armor, roof tiles, or large exotic coins. The leaf surface has a pleasant, matte apple-green tone that looks exceptionally fresh and modern. This is a beautifully matured, strong, and lush 25-30 cm tall plant in a larger 14 cm pot. It is an exceptionally resilient, air-purifying, and long-lasting liana that will add a minimalist, airy, and very modern natural accent to any interior. It is an ideal and completely safe gift for rarity hunters and anyone who loves unusual geometric shapes but sometimes forgets to water plants regularly!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but MANDATORILY diffused light. For the dihīdija to maintain its vivid green tone and lush, dense leaf rows, it needs a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy the gentle morning or late evening sun rays). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will instantly burn its unusual, flat leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is a perfect choice.

• 💧 Watering: Rare and very careful! As an epiphyte, this plant stores huge water reserves in its thick, juicy leaves. Water only when the soil in the pot has completely dried out to the bottom! It absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer or decorative pot, which will quickly cause rot at the sensitive roots and leaf bases. If in doubt whether to water – wait a few more days.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving tropical resident (ideally +18°C to +25°C), which, thanks to its thick leaves, adapts relatively well to normal, dry indoor air. Of course, it will appreciate increased humidity and good air circulation, which will promote much faster new leaf growth. In winter, strictly protect it from cold drafts!

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. Plakanlapu dihīdija is non-toxic and completely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

• A bright and warm windowsill or shelf in morning/evening sun, where the plant receives optimal energy for its growth.

• A hanging pot, high shelf, or place with a wooden support, allowing its flat, tile-like leaf strings to elegantly climb upwards or flow downwards, creating a modern interior design accent.

⚠️ Note and reality check: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its leaf density may vary slightly. It is important to know nature’s secrets: dihīdijas naturally grow as climbing epiphytes. If you provide a flat surface (such as tree bark or a board), its leaves will grow flat and closely against the support. If you grow it as a hanging plant, the leaves will keep their flat shape, but the shoots will flow freely and elegantly downwards. When repotting this plant in the future, ALWAYS use an extremely airy, porous, and loose epiphyte/orchid soil mix (generously mixed with orchid bark, coconut chips, and perlite) so the roots can breathe freely and excess water drains instantly through the pot.
