Regal Million Hearts Cascade Dischidia 'Million Hearts' (Dischidia ruscifolia)
Prepare to bring incomparable airiness, romantic elegance, and the most enchanting cascade of hearts in the houseplant world into your home or office—the stunning Million Hearts Cascade Dischidia (Dischidia ruscifolia, popularly and famously known as “Million Hearts”)! This exclusive epiphyte from the tropical forests of Asia, highly prized among air-garden enthusiasts, is a true masterpiece of living nature. The plant’s greatest pride, magnet, and unmistakable hallmark is its breathtaking cascading structure: countless tiny, firm, fleshy, heart-shaped leaves in a rich emerald-green shade are arranged closely together on flexible, long, densely intertwined stems. During maturity, delicate, airy, white, star-shaped flowers bloom at the bases of the leaves, adding extra charm to the plant. 'Million Hearts' forms a perfectly dense green curtain that can cascade beautifully over the edges of the pot in a magnificent natural waterfall. It is currently a grandly grown, strong, exceptionally dense, large, and established 25–30 cm cascade specimen in a generous, highly stable 14 cm pot. This is the most prestigious, tasteful, and heartfelt gift for bringing blessings to the home, hanging pots, tall shelves, and anyone seeking the highest level of tropical cascading elegance!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright, generous, but MANDATORILY indirect light. This is the main secret behind this plant’s dense cascade of hearts: Dischidia ruscifolia needs plenty of filtered light to maintain its lush green leaves and prevent its stems from stretching with bare gaps (it will particularly enjoy gentle morning sun). Strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sunlight, which can quickly burn its delicate leaves. An east- or west-facing windowsill and a spot right next to a window will suit it best.
-
💧 Watering: Moderate, regular, and very careful (just like for hoyas and epiphytes). Dischidia prefers consistent, light moisture, but it does not tolerate waterlogged roots or soggy soil. Water the plant thoroughly, but only when the top layer of soil (the upper 1–2 cm of the pot) has completely dried between waterings. Since the specimen is in a generous 14 cm pot, it will retain moisture well, so the plant strictly cannot tolerate its roots sitting in stagnant water in a saucer or decorative pot, which can quickly cause leaf drop and root rot. Reduce watering in winter. Water with lukewarm, soft water.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A heat-loving tropical resident (ideally +18°C to +25°C). This dischidia greatly appreciates moderate to high humidity, so it will be grateful for a place near a humidifier or regular humidification. In winter, protect it from the dry, hot air of heating radiators and temperatures below +15°C!
-
🐾 Pets: Pet-friendly / Non-toxic. Dischidias are non-toxic and safe to keep in your home with curious cats and dogs, although because of their cascading stems, it is still best to place them on higher shelves or in a hanging pot.
🏠 BEST ROOM:
-
Bright shelves, bookcases, hanging pots, and spots near windows, where these green “million hearts” stems can hang freely, creating a beautiful, natural curtain.
-
Modern, Scandinavian, or romantic-style interiors, where delicate natural textures and airy cascades bring coziness and warmth.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height (stem length): 25–30 cm (a grandly grown, strong, exceptionally dense, bushy, and already highly eye-catching cascade specimen)
-
Pot diameter: 14 cm (a stable, generous, and highly substantial volume that supports strong root-system and stem development)
⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about dischidias: Plants are living organisms, so every specimen, along with the exact density of its heart-shaped leaf growth and the length of its stems, is a completely unique masterpiece of nature—no two plants in the world are identical. Since this is an exceptionally mature and strong specimen in a generous 14 cm pot, it is hardy and will not require immediate repotting. When you repot it in the future, you MUST use a light, peaty, porous, and exceptionally well-draining epiphyte/hoya potting mix (for example, a mixture of peat, pine bark, and perlite) to provide the roots with oxygen and prevent water from accumulating.
