Sundew or Insectivore (Drosera)

This extremely fascinating, unusual, and functional Sundew is one of the most captivating carnivorous plants in the world! It stands out with its delicate leaves completely covered with tiny red hairs. At the tip of each hair glistens a clear, sticky drop that looks just like morning dew in the sunlight (hence the plant's name). However, this "dew" is actually nectar and glue produced by the plant, which naturally attracts, traps, and digests small flying insects (such as fruit flies and fungus gnats). It is a dynamic, educational, and very useful houseplant that will add a bold, botanically unique, and exotic natural accent to any interior. It is an ideal, joy-inspiring gift for nature enthusiasts, children, and anyone who wants a natural and visually attractive solution to small flying pests in their home!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and direct sunlight! This is the key secret to the beauty of this plant: for the sundew to produce sticky "dew" drops and maintain the bright red color of its hairs, it needs a VERY large amount of sunlight. A south-facing windowsill is absolutely ideal. In too dark a place, it will not produce drops and the leaves will turn pale green.

• 💧 Watering: Strictly specific! Sundew is a bog plant that absolutely cannot tolerate dryness. The pot must constantly sit in a tray filled with 1–2 cm of water (it must remain constantly moist). The most important rule: it is strictly FORBIDDEN to water this plant with tap water or mineral water (minerals will instantly kill the plant’s roots)! Only rainwater, distilled water, or reverse osmosis (RO) purified water may be used for watering.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives perfectly at standard room temperature. Since the leaves are covered with sticky, moist drops, the plant literally loves high air humidity (in dry air, the drops may simply evaporate and not appear). It is an absolutely perfect candidate for growing in open glass terrariums, florariums, or near a humidifier!

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This exotic carnivorous plant is completely non-toxic and safe for your pets, but due to its fragility and stickiness, protect it from curious cat noses and paws!

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

• A very sunny kitchen windowsill (an ideal place where the plant can naturally feed on fruit flies).

• A bright glass terrarium or plant display case (an absolutely excellent microclimate for the plant to shine in all its glory).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the amount of dew drops at the time of receipt may vary (due to transport stress, dew drops may temporarily disappear but will return when the plant is placed in good sunlight and humidity). Important nature secrets to know: never fertilize this plant under any circumstances! Houseplant fertilizer or regular nutrient-rich potting soil will burn the sundew’s roots. If you want to repot it, you may use ONLY pure, acidic, and unamended peat mixed with perlite or quartz sand (without any added minerals). The plant does not need artificial feeding – it will catch small pests in your home on its own, fully providing the necessary nutrients!
