Royal transparent Haworthia 'Comptoniana Hybrid' (Haworthia comptoniana hybrid)
Get ready to bring an absolute botanical sci-fi element into your home or onto your desk, the geometry of nature and one of the most extraordinary succulents in the world of houseplants – the stunning Haworthia 'Comptoniana Hybrid'! This South African natural masterpiece is a real find for lovers of micro-gardens, exotic textures and minimalism. The plant's greatest pride, its magnet and unmistakable calling card is its breathtaking foliage: at the very top, the thick, fleshy, tightly arranged star-shaped leaves have absolutely unique, natural "transparent windows" (fenestrations), crisscrossed by fine, light-colored veins (reticulation). These "glazed windows" are a brilliant invention of nature – in the wild, they let sunlight penetrate deep inside the plant even when, in the scorching heat, it is partially buried in sand! At the moment, it is a perfectly formed, vigorous and distinctly compact 5–10 cm micro-plant in a beautiful 9 cm pot. It is the most prestigious, stylish and futuristic gift for blessing a home, busy office workers, design enthusiasts and anyone looking for a visually stunning and extraordinarily patient natural wonder that takes up almost no space!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright, but DEFINITELY indirect light. This is the secret to the plant’s healthy green color and clear "windows": unlike many other succulents (such as echeverias or cacti), haworthia absolutely cannot tolerate direct, scorching midday sunlight. In excessively strong, hot sunlight, it will literally "bake"—the leaves will turn brownish, reddish, or grayish and shrivel. An east- or west-facing windowsill is absolutely ideal.
-
💧 Watering: Extremely rare, minimal, and very careful! This plant is a true succulent, storing all the water it needs in its fleshy "glass" leaves and thick roots. Water the plant thoroughly, but ONLY when the soil in the pot is completely, 100% dry all the way down to the very bottom of the pot! Most importantly: NEVER pour water directly into the center of the rosette (onto the leaves), as standing water in the leaf axils will quickly cause the plant to rot from the inside. It is best to water it from below (pouring water into the saucer for an hour and then draining the excess).
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: They thrive comfortably in normal room temperatures (+18°C to +25°C). This desert plant tolerates dry indoor air without any problems, the heat of the heating season, and requires absolutely no misting.
-
🐾 Pets: Pet-friendly / Non-toxic. Haworthias are completely non-toxic and absolutely safe to have in your home with curious cats and dogs.
🏠 IDEAL ROOM:
-
Bright desks, computer desks, coffee tables and narrow windowsills, where this "gem" will catch the eye and serve as a small botanical conversation piece, without taking up space.
-
Modern, minimalist, Japanese (Zen) or "high-tech" style interiors, where clean lines of natural geometry create absolute visual harmony.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height: 5–10 cm (a distinctly compact, low-growing and dense succulent rosette, that slowly grows wider)
-
Pot diameter: 9 cm
⚠️ A note and a reality check about haworthias: Plants are living organisms, and you need to know one important fact - haworthias grow extremely slowly! This is their biggest advantage, because they retain their perfect size and shape for years, but it also means you need to be patient. Haworthias (despite their small size) have surprisingly thick, deep, fleshy roots, not a delicate root system. If the plant's beautiful, translucent leaves start to lose their firmness, become soft, wrinkled or sunken - the plant is thirsty. Water it, and the leaves will plump up again like little water balloons. However, if the leaves become "jelly-like", translucent yellow and collapse, the plant has been irreversibly overwatered. When you repot it in the future, BE SURE to use a special, highly mineralized, coarse cactus/succulent potting mix, generously mixed with gravel, pumice or perlite, allowing air to reach the fleshy roots freely.
🌡️ COLD TIME! If the outside temperature is below +5°C, be sure to add a heat pack to the order so that plants and predatory mites do not freeze on the way.
❄️ In cold weather, we recommend choosing Smartpost parcel lockers, as they provide indoor delivery, reducing the impact of low temperatures on the shipment.
⚠️ Important about the heating element! ‼️ 1 heating element per 1 order – it is not necessary to put one for each plant. ‼️ Provides heat for up to 72 hours. Without a heating element – we do not take responsibility for frozen plants and predatory mites.
📦 Pick it up promptly! When the package has been delivered, collect it the same day. Do not leave the package in the parcel locker overnight! Cold and heat can damage the plants and predatory mites.
