CARE AND PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: You can initially keep a newly planted bulb in moderate light. However, as soon as the first green shoot (flower stalk or leaf) appears, BE SURE to move it to the brightest, sunniest windowsill (south, east, or west)! Abundant light is critically important for this giant bulb, so the flower stalks grow straight and can support the extremely heavy flowers.

• 💧 Watering: At first - almost not at all! As soon as you plant the bulb, water the soil just once and forget about watering until a clearly visible green shoot, about 5 cm long, appears! If you water the bulb before sprouting begins, it will simply rot. When the plant is actively growing, water it regularly, keeping the soil slightly moist. Pour water along the edge of the pot, BE SURE to avoid pouring it directly onto the bulb!

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: To wake the bulb and encourage sprouting, pleasant room warmth is needed (+21°C to +24°C). However, once the huge flowers open, you can significantly extend their blooming period by moving the plant to a slightly cooler spot (+18°C). It absolutely does not require any misting.

• 🐾 Keep away from pets and children: Amaryllis bulbs, leaves, and flowers are highly toxic. They contain lycorine and other alkaloids, which, when chewed, cause severe vomiting, tremors, and serious digestive problems in dogs and cats.

⚠️ A note and a dose of reality about XL hippeastrums: Plants are living organisms, and when growing a bulb of this caliber, you must strictly follow two golden rules! First: the bulb MUST NOT be completely buried in the soil! After planting, about 1/3 (up to half) of the top of the bulb MUST be left above the soil level. Second: since this bulb will produce massive and extremely heavy flowers, you MUST plant it in a heavy, stable ceramic or clay pot! In a lightweight plastic pot, the plant is guaranteed to topple over when it blooms. After the spectacular flowering show is over, don't throw the bulb away - cut off the spent flower stalks, continue watering generously throughout spring and summer, fertilize it and grow its green leaves, so it will bloom again next year.
