Regal double amaryllis (hippeastrum) 'Sweet Nymph' (Hippeastrum 'Sweet Nymph')
Get ready to bring absolute botanical theater, springtime romance, and one of the most luxurious wonders in the world of houseplants into your home - the stunning Hippeastrum 'Sweet Nymph' (commonly and traditionally known as amaryllis)! This masterpiece of nature is a real find for fans of gigantic, regal flowers. The greatest pride, attraction, and unmistakable signature of this particular, exclusive 'Nymph' series cultivar are its breathtaking flowers: huge, double (with several rows of petals) flowers bloom on a strong flower stalk, glowing in an exceptionally sweet, bright pink (watermelon pink) color, artistically streaked with delicate, white and darker pink stripes. At the height of its bloom, it looks like a luxurious, three-dimensional cross between a peony and a classic rose! It is the most prestigious, tasteful, and interactive gift for gardening enthusiasts, romantics, and anyone who wants to witness the magical process with their own eyes, as a breathtaking work of nature's art literally grows from a bulb before their eyes.
CARE AND PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: You can keep a newly planted bulb in moderate light at first. However, as soon as the first green shoot appears (a flower stalk or leaf), be SURE to move it to the brightest, sunniest windowsill (south-, east- or west-facing)! Plenty of light is critically important for the flower stalk to grow straight and strong, rather than becoming leggy and unable to support the heavy double flowers.
-
💧 Watering: At first - almost none! As soon as you plant the bulb, water the soil just once and forget about watering until a clearly visible green shoot, about 5 cm long, appears! If you water the bulb before it starts sprouting, it will simply rot. Once the plant is actively growing, water it regularly, keeping the soil slightly moist, but drain any excess water from the saucer. Pour the water around the edge of the pot, making SURE to avoid pouring it directly onto the bulb!
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: To wake the bulb and encourage sprouting, a comfortable room temperature is needed (+21°C to +24°C). However, when the enormous flowers open, you can extend their flowering period by placing the plant somewhere a little cooler (+18°C). It absolutely does not need any misting.
-
🐾 Keep away from pets and children: Hippeastrum bulbs, leaves, and flowers are highly toxic. They contain lycorine and other alkaloids, which, if chewed, cause severe vomiting, tremors, and serious digestive problems in dogs and cats.
🏠 BEST ROOM:
-
Bright windowsills in living rooms and bedrooms, and dining table centerpieces, where this richly pink, enormous flower will serve as an absolute focal point and festive feature of the room.
-
Classic, romantic, “cottagecore” or Provençal-style interiors, where bold floral forms and warm hues will bring an exceptionally strong feeling of coziness and spring.
SPECIFICATION:
-
Height: expected flower stalk height during flowering: 40–50 cm.
-
Condition: A large dormant flower bulb (ready for planting and growing).
⚠️ A note and a reality check about hippeastrums: Plants are living organisms, and when growing this bulbous plant, you must strictly follow the golden rule of planting: the bulb MUST NOT be completely buried in the soil! After planting, about 1/3 (up to half) of the top of the bulb MUST be left above the soil level. Choose a pot that is only 3-5 cm wider than the bulb itself, because hippeastrums like to grow in cramped conditions. One more important fact: don't throw the bulb away after the magnificent flowering show is over! Cut off the spent flower stalk, but continue watering generously throughout spring and summer, fertilizing the plant and growing its green leaves. It is through the leaves that the bulb will gather strength and enter its dormant period in autumn (the leaves will wither), so it can bloom again next season!
🌡️ COLD TIME! If the outside temperature is below +5°C, be sure to add a heat pack to the order so that plants and predatory mites do not freeze on the way.
❄️ In cold weather, we recommend choosing Smartpost parcel lockers, as they provide indoor delivery, reducing the impact of low temperatures on the shipment.
⚠️ Important about the heating element! ‼️ 1 heating element per 1 order – it is not necessary to put one for each plant. ‼️ Provides heat for up to 72 hours. Without a heating element – we do not take responsibility for frozen plants and predatory mites.
📦 Pick it up promptly! When the package has been delivered, collect it the same day. Do not leave the package in the parcel locker overnight! Cold and heat can damage the plants and predatory mites.
