Silver round-leaf Hoya or Wax Flower (Hoya 'Chouke')
Get ready to bring true botanical charm, softness, and refined elegance into your home – Hoya 'Chouke'! This exclusive and highly valued hybrid among houseplant collectors is created by crossing two legendary wax flowers (Hoya carnosa x Hoya serpens), inheriting the best and most beautiful traits of both parents. The plant’s greatest pride is its enchanting, small, and distinctly round, thick leaves that densely cover the winding stems. The leaves have a pleasant, lush green base tone and a firm texture, generously and elegantly decorated with shimmering silver splashes and dots (splash), making the plant sparkle beautifully in the light. But the true magic of nature reveals itself in its blooming: when mature, 'Chouke' regularly and generously blooms with flawless, fluffy star-shaped flower clusters in soft pink and creamy white shades, which emit a stunning, intense, and distinctly sweet fragrance, filling the entire room with a royal scent. It is currently a nicely grown, strong, and stable 10-15 cm young plant in a generous volume 9 cm pot. It is an air-purifying and incredibly resilient vine / trailing plant that will add a minimalist, modern, and very tasteful accent to any interior. It is a perfect, lovely, and at the same time prestigious gift for those looking for easy-care plants with pronounced aesthetics and a royal fragrance!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright but MANDATORILY diffused light. Here lies the main secret of this plant’s silvery beauty and blooming: for 'Chouke' to maintain such an intense silver splash coverage and bloom abundantly in the future, it needs a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy gentle morning or late evening sun rays). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will instantly burn its beautiful, round leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is a perfect choice.
-
💧 Watering: Rare, moderate, and very careful! Since its leaves are thick and succulent, the plant stores water reserves in them perfectly. Water only when the soil in the pot has completely dried out to the bottom! Since the plant is in a stable 9 cm pot, it will retain moisture a bit longer, so the plant absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause sensitive root rot. If in doubt – feel free to wait a few more days; this plant prefers drought over excess moisture.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving tropical resident (ideally +18°C to +25°C), which, thanks to its thick leaves, adapts perfectly and without any problems to normal, dry indoor air and does not require any special air humidification. This makes it an exceptionally easy-care plant even during the winter heating season. The only rule: protect it from cold drafts!
-
🐾 Pets: Friendly. This exotic and beautiful wax flower is completely non-toxic and absolutely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.
🏠 MOST SUITABLE ROOM:
-
Bright and warm windowsills, shelves, or hanging pot spots in morning/evening sun (ideal environment for maintaining a flawless, dense silhouette and quick placement due to its stable young plant size).
-
Modern living rooms, bedrooms, or home offices, where this plant’s shiny, round leaves will serve as a tasteful design accent, and during blooming – as a natural and royal home fragrance.
SPECIFICATIONS:

⚠️ Note and reality check about wax flowers: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the exact density of silver splashes on the leaves may vary slightly. It is important to keep in mind that you are receiving a young plant (in a 9 cm pot)! Although this plant is already nicely grown and more stable than the small mini babies, initially provide it with stable conditions for successful acclimatization. An important nature secret: hoyas naturally grow as vines and sometimes produce long, bare stems (strings) that initially have no leaves. Never cut them off! This is a completely normal natural process – when the long string feels firm support (for example, a trellis or ladder) or sufficient light, new round leaves and later fragrant flowers will gradually grow on it. Do not repot this plant immediately into a too large pot – hoya roots prefer a narrow, compact environment. When you repot it in the future, be sure to use an extremely airy, porous, and loose epiphytic soil mix (generously mixed with perlite, coconut chips, and fine orchid bark) so the roots can breathe freely and excess water drains instantly through the pot.
