CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. For this large-leaved hoya to develop successfully and bloom in the future (producing wonderful, large flower clusters), it needs a lot of light (it will especially enjoy morning or late evening sun rays). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will instantly burn and fade its magnificent, massive leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is an excellent choice.

• 💧 Watering: Rare and very careful! Since its leaves are huge and extremely thick, they serve as excellent water reservoirs. Allow the top layer and the middle layer of the soil to dry out thoroughly between watering sessions! The plant absolutely cannot tolerate root rot caused by standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause root decay. The best indicator: if the leaves are firm and stiff, the plant does not need watering; if they become a bit more flexible – it’s time to water.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives well at standard room temperature and, thanks to its thick leaves, tolerates normal indoor air relatively well. However, as a true tropical jungle dweller, it will be very happy with increased air humidity, which helps the new, gigantic leaves open more easily and quickly and protects their edges from browning. In winter, strictly protect it from cold drafts!

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

• A bright and warm spot on a windowsill or shelf in the morning/evening sun.

• A bright place where the plant has a stable, sturdy support (ladder or bamboo hoop) – its leaves are so heavy and massive that the plant needs a strong support early on to climb upwards.

⚠️ Note and reality check about wax flowers: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its leaf size or vein prominence may vary slightly. It is extremely important to keep in mind that you are receiving a young plant! Small plants should be handled more gently than mature ones. It is important to know nature’s secrets: hoyas naturally grow as vines and very often produce long, thick, and "bare" shoots (stems) that initially have no leaves. Never cut these off! This is a completely normal natural process – when the long stem finds a stable support and enough light, new gigantic leaves will slowly start to develop on it. If the plant blooms in the future, after flowering never cut off the old flower stalks, because the hoya will bloom next season from those same stems! When repotting this plant, ALWAYS use a very airy aroid or epiphyte soil mix (generously mixed with large orchid bark pieces, coconut chips, and perlite) so its roots can breathe freely.
