Shooter Hoya or Wax Flower (Hoya multiflora 'Silver Splash')

Get ready to welcome one of the most dynamic, untamed, and admired wax flowers in the world of houseplants into your collection – Hoya 'Multiflora Silver Splash'! This exotic tropical plant originates from the rainforests of Southeast Asia and belongs to the absolute elite of Hoyas. Unlike most classic Hoyas that grow slowly as vines, Multiflora naturally grows as a sturdy, dense, and compact shrub with large spear-shaped leaves. The greatest pride of this exclusive 'Silver Splash' variety is its spectacular foliage – the lush green surface is generously decorated with shimmering silver drops, spots, and speckles that look like sparkling stardust in the light. However, the greatest fame of this Hoya lies in its legendary blooming: it is naturally gifted with the ability to flower almost continuously, producing grand clusters of flowers that perfectly resemble fiery arrows or small rockets in flight (in creamy white and bright yellow tones with distinctively curved petals), emitting a pleasant, gentle, and sweet fragrance. Currently, it is a small, compact, yet distinctly energetic and strong 10 cm young plant in a stable 8 cm pot. It is an air-purifying and exceptionally long-lasting houseplant that will add a modern, dynamic, and distinctly luxurious accent to any interior. It is a perfect, joy-guaranteeing gift for those seeking plants with a strong visual character and a continuous natural show!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • ☀️ Light: Bright but MANDATORILY diffused light. Here lies the main secret to this plant’s continuous blooming: for 'Multiflora' to maintain its splendid silver splash coverage and literally produce new flower clusters one after another, it requires a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy strong morning or late evening light). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will instantly burn its elegant leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is a perfect choice.

  • 💧 Watering: Moderate and regular. Here lies the main difference of this variety from other Hoyas: since its leaves are a bit thinner and the plant uses a lot of energy for flowering, it does not require as long or complete drying out as desert succulents. Water when the top layer and the middle layer (upper third of the pot) of the soil have just dried out between watering sessions. However, the plant absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause sensitive root rot and make the plant drop its flower buds.

  • 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving tropical resident (ideally +18°C to +25°C) that will be extremely happy with increased air humidity (above 50-60%). Higher humidity helps new flower clusters develop successfully and protects the silvery leaves from browning edges. It will appreciate a spot near a humidifier or on a pebble tray with water. In winter, strictly protect it from cold drafts!

  • 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This exotic and spectacular wax flower is completely non-toxic and absolutely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 MOST SUITABLE ROOM:

  • Bright and warm windowsills or shelves in morning/evening sun, where this unique "arrow" flower show and silvery foliage can be at eye level.

  • Modern living rooms, home offices, or kitchens, where this distinctly structural, shrub-like plant will serve as the main interior design accent and a natural room refresher.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Height: 10 cm (compact baby seedling / energetic and distinctly valuable young plant)

  • Pot diameter: 8 cm (small, stable pot)

⚠️ Note and reality check about wax flowers: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the exact density of its silver areas on the leaves may vary slightly. It is important to keep in mind that you are receiving a young plant (in an 8 cm pot)! Small seedlings require gentler and more patient handling at first than mature plants – Multiflora young plants like stability, so try not to move it unnecessarily when it starts forming its first buds. If the plant blooms, never cut off old flower stalks after flowering, because the Hoya will bloom again from those same stems! Do not repot this small seedling immediately into a too large pot – Hoya roots prefer a compact environment. When you repot it in the future, be sure to use an extremely airy, porous, and loose soil mix (generously mixed with perlite, coconut chips, and fine orchid bark) so the roots can breathe freely and excess water drains instantly through the pot.
