Silver Variegated Hoya or Wax Flower (Hoya sigillatis 'Silver')
Get ready to discover one of the most delicate, elegant, and highly sought-after miniature wax flowers among houseplant collectors – Hoya 'Sigillatis Silver'! This unique and rare tropical epiphyte comes from the depths of Borneo's rainforests and is a true masterpiece of nature. Unlike classic green Hoyas, this exclusive 'Silver' variety boasts a completely surreal color palette. Its small, elongated, and distinctly firm leaves are covered with an almost one hundred percent flawless dense and shiny silver sheen. This silvery coloration and leaf texture visually resemble precious, exquisite jewelry. Additionally, under sunlight, the underside of the leaves and stems often take on charming warm bronze and pink hues. Currently, it is a very small, compact, and extremely valuable 10 cm young plant in a tiny 6 cm pot. It is an air-purifying and exceptionally long-lasting vine / trailing plant that will add a minimalist, modern, and very tasteful luxury accent to any interior. It makes a perfect, prestigious, and unforgettable gift for passionate rarity hunters and those who adore delicate, silvered natural forms!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright but MANDATORILY diffused light. Here lies the main secret to this plant’s stunning beauty: for the Hoya to maintain such an intense, pure silver coating and for new leaves not to emerge simply green, it requires a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy gentle morning or late evening sun rays). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will instantly burn its delicate leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is a perfect choice.
-
💧 Watering: Rare, moderate, and very careful! As a true epiphyte, this plant perfectly stores water reserves in its juicy leaves. Water only when the soil in the pot has completely dried out to the bottom! Since the small young plant is in a tiny 6 cm mini pot, it will dry out relatively quickly, but the plant absolutely cannot tolerate root rot caused by standing water, which will quickly cause delicate root decay. If in doubt – better wait a few more days.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving tropical resident (ideally +18°C to +25°C), which, thanks to its thick leaves, can relatively well adapt to normal, dry indoor air. Of course, it will appreciate increased humidity (above 50-60%), which helps new shoots and silvery leaves develop faster and denser. In winter, strictly protect it from cold drafts!
-
🐾 Pets: Pet-friendly. This exclusive and stunning wax flower is completely non-toxic and absolutely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.
🏠 BEST LOCATION:
-
Bright and warm windowsill, shelf, or spot in a plant cabinet with morning/evening sun (ideal environment to maintain the unique silver coloration and convenient placement due to its compact young plant size).

Modern living rooms, home offices, or mini terrariums, where this plant’s delicate, shimmering silver strands will serve as a refined interior design element.

⚠️ Note and reality check about wax flowers: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the exact density of its silver areas on the leaves may vary slightly. It is extremely important to keep in mind that you are receiving a young plant (in a 6 cm pot)! Such small, exclusive seedlings must be handled much more gently, carefully, and patiently than mature plants. An important nature secret: Hoyas naturally grow as vines and sometimes produce long, "bare" shoots (strands) that initially have no leaves. Never cut these off! This is a completely normal natural process – when the long strand finds support or enough light, new firm leaves will gradually grow on it. When repotting this plant in the future, be sure to use an extremely airy, porous, and loose epiphyte/orchid soil mix (generously mixed with perlite and fine orchid bark) so the roots receive maximum oxygen and excess water drains instantly through the pot.
