Hoya or Wax Flower 'sp. Vietnam' (Hoya sp. Vietnam)

This extremely rare, intriguing, and botanically valuable Hoya or Wax Flower 'sp. Vietnam' is a true pride and gem in the home of any passionate houseplant collector! The designation "sp." indicates that this is a special, not yet precisely classified species, discovered in the wild and coming directly from the legendary tropical rainforests of Vietnam. It stands out with its firm, fleshy leaves covered in an elegant, lush green shade, smooth surface, and distinctive natural pattern. As an exotic wax flower, it is an exceptionally patient, air-purifying, and long-living vine that will eventually form a beautiful cascade or gladly climb up a provided support. Currently, it is a small young plant, but it is exceptionally space-efficient and completely safe as a houseplant that will add a luxury-class, wild, and very mysterious jungle accent to any interior. It is an exclusive, joy-inducing gift for rarity hunters and anyone who wants to bring true Vietnamese forest exoticism into their collection!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. For this rare Hoya to maintain healthy leaf color, dense form, and to be able to bloom with charming waxy flowers in the future, it vitally needs a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy morning or late evening sun rays). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays that will instantly burn and fade its precious leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is an excellent choice.

  • 💧 Watering: Rare and very thoughtful! As an epiphyte, its thick and firm leaves work perfectly as water reservoirs. Allow the top layer and the middle layer of the soil to dry out thoroughly between watering sessions! It absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause sensitive root rot. The best indicator: if the leaves are firm and stiff, the plant does not need watering; if they become slightly more flexible – it’s time to drink.

  • 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Feels great at standard room temperature and adapts easily to normal indoor light. However, as a warmth-loving inhabitant of the Vietnamese jungles, it will be extremely happy with increased air humidity, which promotes much faster and denser new leaf growth. In winter, strictly protect it from cold drafts!

  • 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This colorful and exotic wax flower is completely non-toxic and absolutely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

  • A bright and warm windowsill with morning or evening sun (ideal environment and convenient placement due to its compact size).

  • A high shelf, hanging pot, or a place with a small support (ladder) where the vine can freely stretch and twist its tendrils.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Height: 15 cm (length of tendrils at the time of receipt / young plant)

  • Pot diameter: 10.5 cm

⚠️ Note and reality check about Hoyas: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its leaf size or shoot length may vary slightly. It is extremely important to keep in mind that you are receiving a young plant! Small, rare seedlings should be handled more gently and patiently than mature plants. It is important to know nature’s secrets: Hoyas naturally grow as vines and regularly produce long, "bare" shoots (tendrils) that initially have no leaves. Never cut these off! This is part of the normal natural process – when the long tendril finds support or senses enough light, new, unique leaves will gradually start to form on it. If the plant blooms in the future, after flowering never cut off old flower stalks, because the Hoya will bloom next season from those same stems! When repotting this plant, it is MANDATORY to use a very airy aroid or epiphyte soil mix (generously mixed with orchid bark, coconut chips, and perlite) so its roots can breathe freely.
