Royal Golden Variegated Ivy 'Gold Kolibri' (Hedera helix 'Gold Kolibri')
Get ready to bring a true classic of nature into your home or office, aristocratic romance and the most elegant miniature climber in the houseplant world – the stunning 'Gold Kolibri' Ivy! A treasure of European gardens and forests, this evergreen plant lends any room refined "cottagecore" or country-estate charm. The greatest pride, main attraction and unmistakable hallmark of this special and exceptionally delicate 'Gold Kolibri' variety is its breathtaking foliage: small, finely lobed leaves with three points grow along graceful stems, their green base color artfully and abundantly edged in bright, golden yellow and creamy white. This golden variegation literally brightens the room and creates a sun-dappled effect even on the cloudiest day. It has grown into a lovely, strong, notably dense and very bushy 20 cm cascading starter plant in a generous 12 cm pot. It is the most prestigious, tasteful and dependable gift for blessing a home, bookcase owners and anyone looking for a visually stunning, relaxing and very compact wonder of nature!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright, but MUST be indirect. This is the secret behind this plant's golden pattern: unlike completely dark green ivies, this 'Gold' variety needs significantly more light to retain its beautiful golden streaks and not turn plain green. However, be sure to protect it from direct, scorching midday sun, which can quickly burn its delicate leaves. An east- or west-facing windowsill is perfect.
-
💧 Watering: Regular, maintaining consistent, but light moisture. Water the plant thoroughly when the top 2-3 centimeters of soil have dried out. Ivy suffers badly if its roots dry out completely (the leaves will quickly become dry, crispy, and brown), but it also absolutely cannot tolerate its roots sitting in stagnant water in the tray. Always pour off excess water after watering!
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A lover of cool air and fresh breezes! Ivy thrives in cool, comfortable conditions (+15°C to +20°C). It absolutely hates hot, stuffy air and the dry air from heating radiators, so mist it regularly during winter or keep it in a cooler room.
-
🐾 Keep away from pets and children: Ivy contains saponins throughout all its parts (especially the leaves and stems), which are toxic. Chewing or swallowing it can cause vomiting, excessive drooling, and digestive upset in dogs and cats. Place this climbing plant somewhere they cannot reach.

⚠️ A note and a dose of reality about indoor ivy: Plants are living organisms, and when growing ivy indoors, you need to know its biggest secret and weakness: spider mites. In the dry, hot air indoors (especially in winter next to radiators), ivy is like a magnet for these invisible pests, which cause the leaves to become dull, bluish-gray, yellowish, and eventually wilt. Prevention is the key to success! Once every 1-2 weeks, take the whole pot and thoroughly rinse the delicate ivy foliage in a cool or room-temperature shower – this will wash off the dust and create an environment that spider mites hate. Another great fact: You are this plant's hairdresser! 'Kolibri' varieties stand out for their compact, bushy growth, but if the vines grow too long or the base becomes "bare", feel free to grab your scissors and trim them – the plant will be happy and grow even bushier! When repotting, use a quality, very well-draining houseplant potting mix.
🌡️ COLD TIME! If the outside temperature is below +5°C, be sure to add a heat pack to the order so that plants and predatory mites do not freeze on the way.
❄️ In cold weather, we recommend choosing Smartpost parcel lockers, as they provide indoor delivery, reducing the impact of low temperatures on the shipment.
⚠️ Important about the heating element! ‼️ 1 heating element per 1 order – it is not necessary to put one for each plant. ‼️ Provides heat for up to 72 hours. Without a heating element – we do not take responsibility for frozen plants and predatory mites.
📦 Pick it up promptly! When the package has been delivered, collect it the same day. Do not leave the package in the parcel locker overnight! Cold and heat can damage the plants and predatory mites.
