CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright, generous, but ABSOLUTELY indirect light. Here lies the main secret behind the development of this plant's famous perforated leaves: monstera needs plenty of filtered light to regularly produce large leaves with characteristic splits (it will especially enjoy gentle morning sun). Strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sunlight, which can quickly burn its glossy leaves. In a spot that is too dark, the leaves will grow small and without holes.

• 💧 Watering: Regular, moderate, and very thoughtful. Monstera likes consistent moisture, but it absolutely does not tolerate its roots soaking in standing water. Water the plant generously, but ONLY when the top layer of soil (the upper 3-4 cm of the pot) has completely dried out. Since the plant is in a size 12 pot, it will dry out moderately quickly, but the plant strictly does not tolerate its roots soaking in standing water in the saucer, which quickly causes yellowing leaves, black spots, and root rot. Reduce watering considerably in winter.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A heat-loving tropical resident (ideally +18°C to +26°C). This monstera greatly appreciates increased air humidity, so it will be grateful for regular leaf misting or a humidifier. Focus on cleanliness: regularly wipe the large leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and allow the plant to breathe freely. In winter, strictly protect it from the dry, hot air of heating radiators and icy drafts!

• 🐾 Keep away from pets: Like all members of the arum family (Araceae), monstera contains calcium oxalate crystals. These can cause irritation of the mouth, throat, and digestive tract in cats and dogs if the leaves or stems are chewed.

⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about monsteras: Plants are living organisms, so every specimen, its exact number of leaves, and the number of splits (fenestrations) are completely unique masterpieces of nature. Botanical secret: in young plants, the leaves are initially whole (heart-shaped). The true perforated leaves only begin to develop once the plant becomes older, establishes a strong root system, and receives enough light. Monstera also naturally forms long aerial roots - never cut them off! You can guide them visually back into the pot, where they will help the plant absorb nutrients. When you eventually repot it into a larger pot, you MUST use a special, very light, airy, and highly well-draining houseplant/arum soil mix (with a generous addition of perlite, pine bark, and coconut fiber). As the plant grows larger, it will also need support (for example, a coconut-fiber or moss pole).
