Myrtus Communis

Common myrtle (Myrtus communis)

This common myrtle is a historic houseplant steeped in legend that symbolizes love, peace, and prosperity. It is an evergreen shrub with delicate, glossy leaves that release a pleasant, refreshing essential-oil aroma when rubbed, bringing a Mediterranean atmosphere into the home. Myrtle is easy to shape, so it is often grown as a bonsai tree or topiary, becoming an elegant and lively interior decoration.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Loves light! A bright, sunny location with direct sunlight is required (at least a few hours a day) for the plant to maintain a compact shape and lush foliage.

• 💧 Watering: Regular and thorough. The soil should remain consistently moderately moist. Myrtle does not tolerate drying out - if the root ball dries out, the leaves may fall off irreversibly. Soft water is recommended.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Enjoys fresh air and moderate warmth. In winter, it will feel best in a cooler room. The plant will be very grateful for regular misting, especially during the heating season.

• 🐾 Pets: Pet-friendly. The plant is non-toxic to dogs and cats.

🏠 BEST ROOM:

• Kitchen windowsill (to enjoy its aroma and freshness).

• Bright office desk (as a stress reliever with its greenery and scent).

• Cool veranda or bedroom (in winter, where there is sufficient light).
