CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright, generous, but ABSOLUTELY diffused light (or gentle morning sun). This is the secret to this plant’s abundant flowering and the opening of its “butterflies”: for the plant to produce flower buds generously and avoid stretching into long, weak stems, it needs plenty of filtered light. Strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sunlight, which can quickly burn its delicate, fragile leaves and flowers. An east- or west-facing windowsill will be perfect.

• 💧 Watering: Regular, moderate, and very careful. Wood sorrel likes consistent, light moisture, but it absolutely does not tolerate its root tubers soaking in standing water. Water the plant generously, but ONLY when the top layer of soil (the upper 1-2 cm of the pot) has completely dried out. Since the plant strictly cannot tolerate its roots soaking in standing water in the saucer, always drain away excess water; otherwise, the bulbs/rhizomes will quickly begin to rot. Reduce watering significantly in winter.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: It feels excellent and comfortable in moderate room temperatures (+15°C to +22°C). This plant adapts well to ordinary indoor air. An important secret: wood sorrel does not like prolonged, sweltering heat above +25°C, which can trigger the plant to enter dormancy prematurely.

• 🐾 Keep away from pets: Wood sorrel contains oxalic acid (oxalates) in its leaves. Although it is not fatal in small amounts, chewing the leaves or flowers can cause digestive tract and kidney irritation in cats and dogs. Place this flowering beauty somewhere they cannot reach.

⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about wood sorrel: Plants are living organisms, and Oxalis is one of the greatest “actresses” in the houseplant world. First, due to transportation and stress, the plant may fold its leaves and look “wilted” - place it in a bright spot and let it recover. Second, and most importantly - wood sorrel grows from small, cone-like bulbs in the soil and has a natural dormant period. If at any point (often in winter or during extreme heat) the plant suddenly begins shedding all its leaves, stops flowering, and looks dead - DO NOT THROW IT OUT! It is simply going to sleep. Stop watering, place the pot in a cooler, darker spot for a couple of weeks, and then, when you resume watering and move it into the light, new, strong “butterflies” and flower buds will burst from the soil en masse! When you repot it in the future, use a light, well-draining houseplant substrate.
