CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Exceptionally generous, bright and maximally sunny conditions! This is the main secret behind the plant's massive trunk and magnificent leaf crown: Pachypodium lameri is an absolute sun lover. For its trunk to grow thick and firm and for a dense green crown to develop at the top, place it in the brightest spot in the room (it will love and needs direct sunlight). If the light is insufficient, the trunk will remain thin and weak, and the plant will begin to develop yellow leaves. A south- or west-facing windowsill and a spot directly by the window are the perfect choices!

• 💧 Watering: Extremely moderate, infrequent and very careful. Since the pachypodium's silvery trunk acts as a powerful water reservoir, the plant does not tolerate living in constantly waterlogged soil. Water the plant thoroughly, but only when the soil in the pot has completely, 100% dried out all the way to the very bottom of the pot between waterings! Since the specimen is in a large-volume 14 cm pot, it will retain moisture longer, so the plant categorically cannot tolerate its roots soaking in standing water in the saucer - this can quickly cause rot in the base of the trunk and roots. During the winter months (the plant's dormant period), reduce watering to an absolute minimum (once a month is perfectly sufficient). If in doubt - never water!

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Feels excellent and comfortable in warmth and pronounced dryness (+20°C to +28°C). This succulent tolerates dry indoor air without any problems, the heat of the heating season and requires no misting or additional humidity. On the contrary - high humidity may harm it. Important rule: pachypodium is a pronounced heat lover - protect it from temperature drops below +13°C and icy drafts in winter (while airing the room)!

• 🐾 Keep away from pets: The pachypodium's trunk is covered with sharp thorns, and its sap can cause irritation. Place this magnificent, sculptural design plant in a safe location away from children and four-legged friends.

⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about Madagascar palms: Plants are living organisms, so every specimen and the precise thickness of its trunk, arrangement of thorns or density of its leaf crown is a unique work of nature. An important secret of nature: in autumn and winter, as daylight hours and temperatures decrease, the pachypodium may naturally turn yellow and shed some of its lower leaves - do not panic, this is a normal transition into winter dormancy! During this time, water it very infrequently, keep it warm, and in spring, as the sun returns, a new, lush and glossy crown of leaves will rapidly shoot out from the top of the trunk. Since this is already an exceptionally well-grown specimen in a generous 14 cm pot, it will not need repotting for a very long time. When you eventually repot it, you MUST use a special, mineralized, sandy and highly porous cactus/succulent soil mix (generously containing gravel, pumice and perlite) to ensure that excess water drains through the pot immediately.
