Royal Amazon forest vine (Parthenocissus amazonica)

Get ready to bring absolute botanical exoticism into your home or office, the breath of South America's tropical rainforests, and one of the most astonishing rarities in the world of houseplants - the stunning Amazon forest vine (Parthenocissus amazonica)! This masterpiece of nature is a true, exclusive find for admirers of rare climbing plants and unusual textures. The plant's greatest pride, its magnet and unmistakable calling card, is its breathtaking foliage, which offers a dramatic two-color show: the delicate, pointed, prominently veined leaves shimmer on top in a magical, "frosted" silvery-green hue, but, as soon as you lift a leaf (or the plant drapes freely over the edge of its pot), its underside is revealed, colored a strikingly rich, dark red (burgundy/wine) color! This visual contrast makes it a true design gem. It is currently a nicely grown, strong and exceptionally dynamic 30 cm long climbing plant in a generous 12 cm pot. It is the most prestigious, tasteful and exotic gift for "urban jungle" collectors, terrarium enthusiasts and anyone looking for a visually striking, colorful natural wonder that cascades!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • ☀️ Light: Bright, but MUST be indirect (filtered) light. Here's the secret to this plant's silvery leaves: to maintain its distinctive silver and burgundy coloring, it needs plenty of natural light. However, it absolutely cannot tolerate direct, scorching midday sun, which will quickly burn its paper-thin leaves and cause them to dry out. An east- or west-facing windowsill will be absolutely ideal.

  • 💧 Watering: Moderate, regular, and very careful! This tropical vine likes consistent moisture, but is sensitive to both extremes. Water the plant generously, but ONLY when the top 2-3 centimeters of soil have dried out. It absolutely cannot tolerate its roots sitting in standing water in the saucer. On the other hand, if you let it dry out completely, its delicate leaves will quickly become crispy and fall off.

  • 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A lover of warmth and EXTREMELY high humidity! It thrives in comfortable room temperatures (+18°C to +25°C). However, keep in mind - this is an Amazonian plant, which absolutely hates hot, dry air from heating radiators. For survival and to maintain its beauty during the winter season, it urgently needs high humidity (regular misting or a humidifier).

  • 🐾 Keep away from pets and children: Plants in the aroid family often contain calcium oxalate crystals, which are toxic. Chewing or ingesting them causes a burning sensation in the mouth, swelling of the lips, and digestive upset in dogs and cats.

🏠 BEST ROOM:

  • Hanging pots (macramé) near bright windows, tall bookshelves, glass plant cabinets, and bright bathrooms, where this delicate accent will get the humidity it needs and can freely, cascade downward.

  • “Urban jungle,” eclectic, boho, or modern interiors, where silver and wine-red tones will create a sophisticated, dimensional design element.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Height: 30 cm (currently actively producing long, trailing vines with two-toned leaves).

  • Pot diameter: 12 cm.

⚠️ A note and a dose of reality about the Amazon wine vine: Plants are living organisms, and when growing this rare species, you need to know two golden botanical rules! First, this plant is a true “drama queen” when it comes to air humidity. If the air in your home gets very dry in winter and you don’t mist it, the plant will protest by shedding some of its beautiful leaves - it isn’t dead, it simply needs more tropical humidity! Second, it’s a natural climber/creeper. You can grow it as a hanging plant, letting its vines trail freely downward, or add a decorative stake or trellis to the pot, which it will happily climb around. If a vine gets too long and loses its leaves, feel free to prune it - this will encourage the plant to branch from the base, making it even bushier! When you repot it in the future, BE SURE to use an airy, lightweight potting mix for houseplants, blended with perlite for good drainage.

🌡️ COLD TIME! If the outside temperature is below +5°C, be sure to add a heat pack to the order so that plants and predatory mites do not freeze on the way.

❄️ In cold weather, we recommend choosing Smartpost parcel lockers, as they provide indoor delivery, reducing the impact of low temperatures on the shipment.

⚠️ Important about the heating element! ‼️ 1 heating element per 1 order – it is not necessary to put one for each plant. ‼️ Provides heat for up to 72 hours. Without a heating element – we do not take responsibility for frozen plants and predatory mites.

📦 Pick it up promptly! When the package has been delivered, collect it the same day. Do not leave the package in the parcel locker overnight! Cold and heat can damage the plants and predatory mites.
