Passionflower or Passion Vine (Passiflora)

This extremely fast-growing and exotic Passiflora, also known as Passionflower, is one of the most astonishing flowering vines in the world! It stands out with its indescribably magnificent, intricate, and almost otherworldly flowers, whose unique structure has fascinated botanists and nature lovers for centuries. CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and direct sunlight. For the passionflower to form flower buds and bloom magnificently, it vitally needs a lot of sun. A south or southwest-facing windowsill is absolutely the best choice. In too dark a place, the plant will start to stretch and produce only green leaves, but you won’t see any flowers.

• 💧 Watering: Abundant in summer, minimal in winter. During the active growth and flowering season (spring and summer), keep the soil evenly moist but definitely do not let the roots sit in standing water in the saucer. During the winter dormancy period, reduce watering significantly, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out thoroughly between waterings.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth in summer and requires coolness in winter. In the warm months, it is highly recommended to take the plant outside into fresh air and sun (on a balcony, terrace, or garden). However, to allow the plant to gather strength and bloom beautifully the following year, it must be provided with a cool dormancy period in winter (ideally in a bright room around 10–15°C).

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This exotic vine is not considered toxic and is completely safe in your home with cats and dogs.

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

• Sunny south or west-facing windowsill (an absolute prerequisite for successful indoor flowering).

• Bright terrace or balcony in summer (where it can freely twine around railings and enjoy fresh air).

• Cool but bright veranda or stairwell in winter (an ideal place for the necessary dormancy period).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may differ slightly from the description. An interesting fact to know: passionflower’s exotic flowers are extremely magnificent, but each flower only lives for about one day! Fortunately, a healthy and sun-exposed plant continuously produces new flower buds throughout the season. Since this is a pronounced vine, it absolutely requires a stable support (trellis, hoop, or bamboo sticks) to climb on. If the shoots become too long and unruly, the plant can be safely and quite heavily pruned in spring – this will only encourage the growth of side branches and new flowers!
