Royal Copper-Tone Snake Plant 'Coppertone' (Sansevieria kirkii 'Coppertone')
Get ready to bring the power of the desert, an incomparable metallic shimmer, and the most unusual color palette in the world of houseplants into your home, office, or rare succulent collection with the stunning Copper-Tone Snake Plant 'Coppertone' (Sansevieria kirkii 'Coppertone' / Dracaena pethera 'Coppertone')! This exclusive natural rarity, highly prized among collectors, is a true masterpiece of living nature. The plant's greatest pride, attraction, and unmistakable signature is its breathtaking foliage: from the base, thick, exceptionally firm, slightly wavy leaves form a massive, star-shaped rosette, their surfaces adorned with unique marbling in rusty copper, bronze, and olive-green shades, edged with delicate reddish-brown and whitish margins. In sunlight, these leaves develop a fascinating metallic copper sheen. In addition to its royal and exotic appearance, this snake plant is one of the world's most powerful air-purifying champions, actively removing toxins from the room while requiring almost no care. It is currently a beautifully grown, strong, exceptionally dense, substantial, and highly promising 25 cm plant in a generously sized 12 cm pot. It is the most prestigious, tasteful, and reliable gift for housewarmings, desks, modern offices, and anyone looking for the highest style in their home with absolutely minimal care requirements!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Versatile, but bright for color retention! This is where the secret of this plant's phenomenal copper tone lies: 'Coppertone' adapts well and reliably even to deep partial shade, but to preserve its famous rusty copper and bronze coloring, place it in the brightest possible location (it will especially enjoy gentle morning or afternoon sun). In a location that is too dark, the leaves may gradually lose their metallic sheen and become simply green.
-
💧 Watering: Extremely infrequent, minimal, and very cautious—this plant thrives best when you "forget" to water it. Since its massive, fleshy leaves act as powerful water reservoirs, the plant does not tolerate constant moisture. Water the plant only when the soil in the pot has completely, 100% dried out all the way to the bottom between waterings! Since the plant is in a 12 cm pot, it will dry out moderately, so the plant categorically does not tolerate its roots or the center of the rosette soaking in standing water in the saucer, which can quickly cause rot. In winter, water very infrequently (once every 3–4 weeks). If in doubt, do not water!
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Feels excellent and comfortable in warmth and even hot conditions (+18°C to +28°C). This plant tolerates dry indoor air completely without problems, including the heat of the heating season, and requires no misting or additional humidity. Protect it from temperatures below +10°C and icy drafts in winter.
-
🐾 Keep away from pets: Snake plants contain saponins, which can cause mild digestive tract irritation in cats and dogs if the leaves are chewed. Place this sculptural, copper-toned rosette somewhere inaccessible to four-legged friends.
🏠 BEST-SUITED ROOM:
-
Living rooms, desks, coffee tables, and office spaces, where this substantial metallic silhouette will bring the power of the desert, purify the air, and serve as the main and highly unusual design accent.
-
Modern, industrial (loft), Scandinavian, or minimalist interiors, where exotic natural textures and rusty copper tones create the perfect visual balance.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height: 25 cm (a compact, strong, exceptionally firm, substantial, and already visually perfectly formed plant)
-
Pot diameter: 12 cm (a stable and generous size that supports strong root-system and rosette development)
⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about snake plants: Plants are living organisms, so every specimen and the exact waviness, thickness, and copper-marbling pattern of its leaves are completely unique works of nature—no two plants in the world are identical. Botanical fact: 'Coppertone' is a distinctly slow-growing variety that retains its compact form for a long time. Since this is a strong plant in a 12 cm pot, it is exceptionally hardy and will not require repotting for a very long time (snake plants greatly prefer snug pots). When you eventually repot it into a slightly larger pot, you MUST use a light, mineral-based, exceptionally well-draining cactus/succulent soil mix (with a generous addition of perlite, pumice, and sand).
