Get ready to bring festive coziness, a burst of bright color, and the houseplant world's most beloved winter-blooming legend into your home or office—the stunning Schlumbergera (Schlumbergera, commonly known as the Christmas cactus)! This natural treasure from Brazil's tropical forests is a unique succulent that naturally grows as an epiphyte on trees. The plant's greatest pride, attraction, and unmistakable signature are its breathtaking silhouette and blooms: from a lush base, segmented, flat, saw-edged shoot segments in a glossy emerald-green hue unfold, with multilayered, exotic, butterfly-shaped flowers blooming at their tips in vivid pink, red, coral, or pure white tones. Schlumbergera is legendary for its ability to bloom when the rest of nature is dormant, filling the room with indescribable vitality. It is currently a beautifully mature, strong, exceptionally dense, bushy, and stable 25 cm specimen in a generously sized 12 cm pot. This is the most heartfelt, tasteful, and impeccable gift for blessing a home, winter celebrations, family coziness, and anyone seeking the highest level of blooming comfort in their interior!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright, abundant, but MANDATORILY indirect light. This is the key secret to this plant's abundant flowering and lush segments: unlike desert cacti, the forest cactus Schlumbergera does not like basking in the sun. It needs plenty of filtered light to produce a large number of flower buds (it will especially enjoy gentle morning sun). Strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sunlight, which can cause sunburn on its segments or turn them purplish-red and stressed. It will do best on an east- or west-facing windowsill.
-
💧 Watering: Regular, moderate, and careful. Schlumbergera likes consistently light moisture in the soil, but it does not tolerate the "swamp effect" or waterlogged roots. Water the plant thoroughly as soon as the soil surface (the top 1–2 cm of the pot) has dried between waterings. Since the specimen is in a stable 12 cm pot, it will retain moisture well, but the plant absolutely cannot tolerate its roots standing in stagnant water in the saucer, which can quickly cause flower buds and segments to drop, as well as root rot. Important tip: when buds are forming, do not change the watering routine or rotate the pot. Reduce watering slightly in winter after flowering.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: It thrives in moderate room temperatures (+18°C to +22°C). Schlumbergera greatly appreciates moderate air humidity and will be grateful for regular humidification. The main flowering secret: for buds to form, the plant needs a brief dormant period in autumn (September/October), with cooler temperatures (+12°C to +16°C) and shorter daylight hours. In winter, protect it from the dry, hot air of heating radiators and cold drafts!
-
🐾 Pets: Pet-friendly / Safe. Schlumbergeras are completely non-toxic and absolutely safe to keep in your home with curious cats and dogs.

⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about Schlumbergeras: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its exact arrangement of segmented shoots, flower color, and the degree to which its buds have opened at a given moment may vary slightly, creating a one-of-a-kind natural form. Golden rule: while Schlumbergera is forming and holding buds, try not to move or repot it, or change its orientation toward the light—it may drop its delicate buds under stress. Since this is already a beautifully mature specimen in a 12 cm pot, it is strong and will not require immediate repotting. When you repot it in the future, use a light, peat-based, airy, and very well-draining houseplant or forest-cactus soil mix with a generous addition of perlite and bark.
