Royal Silver Coin Vine (Xerosicyos danguyi)

Get ready to welcome the most unusual, stylish, and highly prized indoor plant treasure from Madagascar into your collection – the stunning Silver Dollar Plant (Xerosicyos danguyi)! This exotic member of the cucumber family is a true masterpiece of living nature, completely redefining the concept of classic houseplants. The plant’s greatest pride, magnet, and unique calling card is its breathtaking foliage: perfectly round, distinctly thick and juicy "coin" or disc-shaped leaves with a shimmering, silvery-gray to softly silvery-green coating grow from its twisting, sturdy stems. These firm leaves look as if cut from precious metal and serve as water reservoirs, giving the plant a striking sculptural and 3D depth effect. Xerosicyos is an exceptionally dynamic and resilient plant – it can be grown as a bold trailing succulent or allowed to climb and twine upwards around decorative supports with its delicate tendrils. It is currently beautifully matured, strong, firm, and distinctly stable 10-15 cm tall in a perfectly sized 10.5 cm pot. This is the most prestigious, tasteful, and guaranteed exclusive gift for lovers of modern minimalism, rare succulent hunters, and anyone seeking untamed natural architecture for their home!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • ☀️ Light: Exceptionally generous, bright, and maximally sunny environment! This is where the main secret of the plant’s silvery tone and round leaves lies: Xerosicyos danguyi loves the sun. To grow thick, firm, and maintain its famous silvery coating, place it in the brightest spot in the room (it really needs and enjoys direct sunlight). If the light is insufficient, the leaves will become thinner, lose their silvery shine, and the stems will start to stretch unattractively. A south or west-facing windowsill is the perfect choice!

  • 💧 Watering: Extremely rare, minimal, and very thoughtful – this plant thrives best when occasionally "forgotten." Since its thick, round leaves act as excellent water reservoirs, the plant does not tolerate constant moisture. Water the plant only when the soil in the pot is completely, 100% dry down to the bottom between waterings! Since the plant is in a 10.5 cm pot, it will dry out fairly quickly in summer, but the plant absolutely cannot tolerate root rot caused by standing water in the saucer, which can quickly cause decay of its sensitive root system. During winter months (the plant’s dormant period), reduce watering to an absolute minimum (once a month or every six weeks is sufficient). When in doubt – never water!

  • 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives comfortably in warmth and pronounced dryness (+18°C to +27°C). This succulent tolerates dry indoor air without any problems, heating season heat, and does not require misting or additional humidity. On the contrary – high humidity can harm it. Important rule: protect it from temperatures dropping below +12°C and icy drafts in winter (during window ventilation).

  • 🐾 Pets: Keep away from pets. Like many exotic succulents, this plant can cause digestive tract irritation if its juicy leaves are chewed or swallowed. Place this gorgeous, sculptural design plant out of reach of your four-legged friends.

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

  • Sunny south or west-facing windowsills, bright desks, and spots directly near windows where this silver coin masterpiece will receive the most energy and stand out as the main design feature.

  • Modern, bright, and minimalist interiors or shelves where clean lines, geometric shapes, and elite exoticism create an excellent visual balance and an oasis of calm.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Height/Length: 10-15 cm (beautifully matured, strong, distinctly firm, and visually expressive, thick plant)

  • Pot diameter: 10.5 cm (stable and excellent volume ensuring strong and healthy root development)

⚠️ Note and reality check about Madagascar succulents: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen’s exact leaf roundness, intensity of silvery tone, or stem curvature may vary slightly, creating a unique natural form (there are no two identical plants in the world). Since this is already a nicely matured plant in a mobile and stable 10.5 cm pot, it is exceptionally resilient and will not require immediate repotting for a very long time (succulents prefer tight spaces and grow best when roots are somewhat restricted). When you repot it in the future, ALWAYS use a special, mineralized, sandy, and highly porous cactus/succulent soil mix (rich in gravel, pumice, and perlite) to ensure water drains instantly through the pot and roots remain dry and healthy.
