CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: An exceptionally generous, bright, and maximally sunny environment! This is the main secret behind the plant’s smoky-silver tone and strong spines: Stenocactus beneckei is an absolute child of the sun. To keep its ribs dense and wavy and maintain its famous protective layer of waxy powder, place it in the brightest spot in the room (it will love and needs direct sunlight). A south- or west-facing windowsill will be the perfect choice!

• 💧 Watering: Extremely rare, minimal, and very careful—this plant thrives best when you “forget” about it when it comes to watering. Since its thick stem acts as a powerful water reservoir, the plant does not tolerate living in constant moisture. Water the plant only when the soil in the pot has completely, 100% dried out all the way to the very bottom between waterings! Since the specimen is in a 12 cm pot, it will retain dryness and moisture for a long time, so the plant categorically cannot tolerate its roots or the base of its stem sitting in stagnant water in the saucer, which can quickly cause rot. During the winter months (the plant’s dormant period), stop watering completely. Tip: water around the edge of the pot so you do not flood or wash away the stem’s beautiful waxy powder.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: It feels excellent and comfortable in warmth and heat (+18°C to +28°C). This cactus tolerates dry indoor air completely without problems, including the heat of the heating season, and does not require misting or additional humidity (extra humidity can even be harmful!).
