This extremely gorgeous, fast-growing, and incredibly resilient Tradescantia 'Purpusii' is one of the most popular and colorful trailing houseplants! Unlike the classic striped tradescantia, the 'Purpusii' variety stands out with much deeper, darker, and more intense purple, burgundy, and even bronze tones, while its silvery stripes are less pronounced, creating a very rich and dramatic visual effect. The undersides of its leaves are brightly violet. This plant quickly forms a dense cluster and long, cascading stems, making it look fantastic both on high shelves and in hanging pots. CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and even direct sunlight! This is the main secret to this plant’s beauty: to maintain its richly purplish-red and burgundy color, it vitally needs a large amount of light. If there is too little light, the leaves will become dull, greenish, and the stems will grow leggy and unattractive. A south, east, or west-facing windowsill is an absolutely ideal choice.

• 💧 Watering: Moderate and thoughtful. Tradescantia likes evenly slightly moist soil during active growth, but its fleshy stems allow it to tolerate short periods of drought very well. Let the top layer of soil dry out a bit between watering. It absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will very quickly cause stem and root rot!

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives well at standard room temperature and easily adapts to normal, dry indoor air (no need to mist). In warm summer months, this plant can and should be taken outside to fresh air on a sunny terrace or balcony, where it will develop its deepest, darkest coloration in the sun!

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. The plant’s sap contains substances that can cause skin and oral irritation, redness, and digestive issues in cats and dogs. Keep it out of reach of your pets!

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

• High shelf or hanging pot (allowing the plant’s colorful stems to elegantly hang down).

• Bright, sunny windowsill in the living room (an absolute prerequisite for ideal purple color).

• Sunny balcony or terrace in summer (where it can grow as a gorgeous trailing accent).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its stem length may vary slightly. It is important to know nature’s secrets: tradescantia stems are extremely fragile and tend to break easily (especially when repotting or moving the plant) – handle it gently! If a branch breaks or the plant becomes "bare" at the base over time, don’t hesitate to prune it boldly! Pruning will stimulate the plant to become bushier, and the cut stems can simply be stuck back into moist soil in the same pot or placed in a glass of water – they will root literally within a few days, allowing you to endlessly renew your plant. When repotting, use standard, airy houseplant soil with good drainage.
