Winged Nepenthes or Pitcher Plant (Nepenthes alata)

This graceful and extremely popular Nepenthes alata (often called the winged nepenthes) is the perfect introduction to the fascinating world of carnivorous plants. It boasts beautiful, elongated, light green "pitchers," often adorned with reddish or rusty brown spots. It is not only a great and natural helper in fighting small flying insects at home but also an exotic and dynamic houseplant that will create a true tropical atmosphere in your interior. CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright, diffused light. For the plant to grow vigorously and produce its pitchers, it needs plenty of light (morning or evening sun is especially appreciated), but protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays that can burn the leaves.

• 💧 Watering: Special! The soil should be kept consistently moist, but the roots must not sit in standing water for long periods. Absolutely essential: use only rainwater, distilled, or reverse osmosis water for watering. The minerals in regular tap water will quickly kill this bog plant.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth and high air humidity. Although 'alata' tolerates drier air better than other species, it will stop producing new pitchers in low humidity conditions. A humidifier or regular misting of the air around the plant with distilled water is recommended.

• 🐾 Pets: Pet-friendly. This exotic insect catcher is non-toxic and completely safe to have around cats and dogs in your home.

🏠 BEST ROOM:

• Bathroom with a window (the plant will literally adore the naturally high tropical humidity there).

• Hanging pot by an east or west window (where its graceful pitchers can hang freely and attract attention).

• Bright kitchen (if there is enough light and occasional flying insects for the plant to catch).
